At a side table, under the still waiting branches of the lime tree, two men sit.
On the table is a half empty bottle of red wine, two empty glasses and two plates of pizza.
The men are deep in conversation.
Small pieces of pizza are held between fingers like oysters, each mouthful interrupts their philosophising because the food demands equal consideration.
Further along a three-piece are improvising funk, the base player’s eyes are shut and his spirit is at one with the music. The rhythm guitarist is leading the beat, and the drummer grins like a man sharing a very funny joke.
A woman walks past, she stops and starts to film with her phone.
The two men continue their conversation.
The band change tune and begin a Bob Marley song, people at other tables sing along.
“Don’t worry, about a thing…”
The two men don’t.
They could be anywhere, such is their intent.
Though they are here.
Under the blue sky, under the tree.
Under the influence of food and wine.
