The Lesser the People, the Greater the Opportunity.

Madrid/over a week ago

You’ve been in this park before.

It was different.

How?

I was different. And there were less people. None of these cafés either.

Simpler?

Black and white – look I have a picture.

That’s you?

A former version.

Mark one?

Mark three or four.

You look happy.

I was. I was free. And freewheeling.

And now.

Free in a different way.

Not freewheeling?

I guess not.

Do you miss it?

Who wouldn’t?

Any regrets?

No, but there have to be a lot of wonderings.

What are they?

What ifs.

Like.

I could have stayed here, what if I had?

Your Spanish would be better.

Claro, que si!

You missed out an exclamation mark, and upside down one.

I don’t know how to do it on this keyboard.

Would you like to have stayed?

Funny, I only thought about that now. Then, it didn’t occur to me even to question the next step, which was in a different direction. Now I look around and see the opportunities.

They are still there.

Not as many as there were then.

Less people, more opportunity.

And the Award Goes To!

above the radiator/top floor/triplex/yesterday

Isn’t it about time we announced the results of The Quiz of The Year?

Blimey, I’d completely forgotten! When was the deadline?

January 31st at midnight.

Then yes, it’s well time that we announced the winner.

There is one?

Yes – Mary.

She’s won before.

I think this is her third accolade.

Are you sure she won, I’m looking at her submission and at best it’s a mess.

She was the ONLY one to enter so she gets all the bonus points she needs for a stunning victory.

Not counting the bonus points, how many correct answers did she get? There were forty questions.

She got 25 right, a very respectable score considering that she missed one, answered one that wasn’t and constantly, constantly complained that it was too British.

Apparently not so well known in Canada.

A pity, it was the answer to three of the questions – 3rd Nov/2nd Nov and 21st July.

We sing it every summer/every time we are by the sea/ever ytime we want to be by the sea.

All the time then.

And there’s lots of girls beside, I would like to be beside, beside the seaside, beside the sea.

We sing it then too, then.

Not much time for anything else.

Should we list the answers?

What’s the point? Only Mary showed any interest, and she knows 25 of them.

Should we offer her the corrections then?

It might be worthwhile. Educative perhaps?

Certainly sweet.

Feb 14, she got that wrong, she thought it was Gilbert and Sullivan!

We’d never!

I know, we are both ignorant of stuff like that.

What was it then?

She.

A classic.

Let’s have a listen.

Elvis or The French Guy?

What else?

Feb 21, but to be fair it may not be part of her culture. Here’s a link.

I can’t believe she got Feb 22nd wrong - Leonard Cohen is Canadian isn’t he?

He is, and she’s a fan!

I think she was confused, she was looking for a song and it’s a film.

Back to the Future?

I know, The Muppets!!

Why don’t we get this thing started!!

Etc, etc.

May 17 – Cliff Richards?

Summer Holiday – probably too British.

She missed the Dylan.

May 23, tangled up in Blue.

Love that song.

June 25 she guessed, always a mistake. Makes you think that maybe she’s not a muppets fan.

Difficult to believe, there WAS a link under the photo!.

Another classic!

July 5th she offered three question marks.

I guess she had no idea.

Me…

And…

My shadow.

So gooooood.

September 12th is weird, because she had the answer for July 1O , which she forgot to answer.

Weird. And Sep 12th? Too British?

Probably. Here’s a link.

It’s a classic.

English Music hall great.

I did one today (window).

Cobwebs?

Yep.

See clearly now?

The rain has gone.

No, don’t start. Where were we?

Finished.

We need a big prize.

A GRAND prize.

Have we?

Hang on……
