Grace and Beauty (someone else's).

Tonight I sat at the edge of the field watching the forest.

Waiting.

Waiting for a beast to emerge from the shadows.

None did.

A bird flew from bush to tree, the sound of its wings breaking the silence into beats.

I stood.

Went to the house.

Decided to close a door.

I wondered if anyone was inside, so switched on the light to see.

There was.

A bat.

Two days ago I stood at the edge of the forest.

Stretched.

Took a pose to ease hips and back.

A deer stepped out of the trees, not seeing me.

I didn’t move.

She stopped and looked, saw nothing to scare her, took another step.

Her child appeared from the woods.

They both stopped.

Checked.

Walked across the track and one after the other, jumped the fence.

Gracefully.
