The Good Ship Bitsnbobs (this blog) has been listing dangerously to starboard recently. So, in the spirit of “if you can’t beat them join them up into a list," this month – August - i am listing. This is, sort of, explained here.
1. If you lie on your back in a meadow far
from the maddening crowd, around midnight mid-august and stare at the stars,
and if the Milky Way is strong and you are hoping for shooting stars - at some
point the night sky will start to look like an iced over pond from the inside,
with scratches and cracks and it will be impossible to say otherwise.
2. If you swim in the river at dusk there
is a moment of absolute stillness except for you and the small waves behind you
that you can’t see anyway. But at some moment the surface will suddenly begin
to bubble as fish try to snap the flies at the surface and it will be
impossible to distinguish this from rain falling. The fact that you are wet
makes it even more difficult.
3. The swallows know something.
3. The swallows know something.
