I thought I saw the Loch Ness monster in my local river this afternoon. I was mistaken, it turned out to be consecutive surface splashes created by what finally looked like a Cormorant, but was probably a large Moorhen, trying to take off.
I hadn’t seen the bird at first, though it had obviously been disturbed by me, cycling past. From the corner of my eye I saw a series of silvery flashes that might have been fins.
I wonder why Loch Ness has a potential Monster whilst my local river appears not to? Could it be that Scottish folk are more observant than the locals here?
