Advice for the Toroid Companion

You know that three or five second rule that applies when you drop food on the floor but still intend to eat it?

Does it include grapes?

And if you accidently step on the grape briefly, during the three or five seconds, does it still apply?

And if you were thinking of offering it to a small child to eat, does the rule still hold?

Not that I’m about to.

I was just thinking.

What I really wanted to do was post this photo of Christinatolosa.

The name is trying to cover various gender options.

I’m not sure how you spell It, and my computer spell checker doesn’t seem to know either.

Anyway....

This is what I have learnt about this tortoise so far. We have been together only a handful of days so the information may, or may not, be useful to other tortoise companions.

1.    They can move faster than you think.

2.    When they hide, they are difficult to find.

3.    The longer you fail to find them, the larger the area you have to search.

4.    Gentle, very gentle, application of a rake can help.

5.    Eating habits make mine look regular.

6.    Sometimes they just stop, sometimes with a piece of lettuce still in their mouth.

7.    Eighteen hours – yesterday late afternoon until today noon – has been the longest period in which Christinatolosa has not moved.

8.    They don’t seem to care if an ant walks over them whilst stopped.

9.    I can’t tell if it is smiling.

10.  They don’t seem to like grapes.
