You probably won’t know this and you will probably believe it not to be true……
But…
There exists an International Standard against which the colour white is measured.
White can’t truly be called white, unless it matches this standard.
Internationally.
Though…
To be more accurate…
It’s a standard for Lily-White.
The international standard for Lily-White, against which all Whites should be measured.
And sometimes, Lilies.
And probably terms like pale-face – if anyone uses that any more.
It is a protected International Standard so, for safety and security and to avoid duplication it is moved around.
Whereas, being that there are in fact two of them it would be more correct to say “they are moved around”.
I saw them today.
Under a table in a café.
They are Mr Peter’s legs.
Despite many months of shorts and relentless sun they have not changed their appearance at all.
Which is why they are the International Standard.
And used, sometimes, for standing
