Awash on a Spring Tide.

Have I ever explained my four-season theory?

Personally I can’t remember if I have, it may well already feature somewhere in these pages so if you’ve heard it before – stop me. (p.s. I found it here)

The basic premise is that each of the seasons is in some way an active entity, though it may be too much to suggest they have intelligence, as we understand the term; they are more instinctive.

They operate from a heart, not a mind.

Each has the official tenure on part of the year, each unofficially intrudes on the others and the boundary, between one tenure and the next, is unclear.

But as each tenure comes towards its end and a new one draws to its beginning there occurs a transfer of power and control, from one season to the next.

No season though, ever goes quietly and will fight to stay, no matter how futile that effort.

And so, the incoming season is forced to battle the outgoing and each change over is marked by extreme weather.

If you are alert and watch for these moments they are undeniable.

This week was one such; the spring moved in, the winter refused to part, battle was opened and for three days it rained.

Rain that was more than rain.

Rain that carried with it a force of justice.

The spring was flushing the winter away on a tidal wave of wet.

Goodbye.

Sure, Winter will raise a mocking head from time to time, but its spirit is broken.

Drowned in the Spring’s tide.

Wonderful image!

Here in FL, the battle will soon rage between Spring and Summer (believe it or not). Here's hoping Spring puts up a good fight! She might be tuckered out, though, because she's been trouncing Winter for months.

Here, winter and summer spent a harmonious week: Ice on the ponds, but strong sun and the birds chirping furiously. The rain obviously had other work to do over in your parts.
