A practical guide to some of Life's Top Things - A Digestive special issue (number 7 of 10).
Hello?
Anyone there?
Hello?
Hmm, guess he’s late….i’ll start without him.
About the same time as they released the film I’m going to mention later, I was falling in love in San Francisco, Big Time.
And two things happened on different bridges near the city.
The first one I can’t tell you, least the spell be broken; the second took place at the end of the Golden Gate Bridge at evening, driving west back into the city.
We had just crossed the bridge and the sky and Sorry I’m late, did I miss anything?
Ah, there you are – and good morning to you too. Have you had a good week?
Yeah, brill, thanks - but don’t ignore the question.
The question?
Yeah, the question! Did I miss anything?
Well, you missed the start of the SEVENTH(!) in a series of The Digestive's Special Guides - a sort of pull out supplement - to some of life's top ten things.
Er, how can it be a pull out supplement, it’s a blog?
You could print it.
Print it?
Print it – do I have to keep repeating myself?
You said it was a motif.
I did?
You did.
Whatever – anyhow, I said sort of pull out supplement.
Ah, like when you said sort of Zen metaphor, in part one?
Exactly, you continue to make progress grasshopper.
Yeah, yeah, I’ve worked that one out, someone told me. Who is it this week?
The person who said something quotable, whom I quote somewhere in the post, but forget their name deliberately?
Yes, him, her, it.
I can’t remember.
You can’t remember?
No, I can’t remember – otherwise it wouldn’t be the person who said something quotable, whom I quote somewhere in the post, but forget their name deliberately would it?
Guess not.
(aside - that was a big version of the motif)
But it was in a film, a long time ago.
A long time ago?
Well I guess time is relative, but at least twenty.
Twenty! Blimey, some people weren’t even born!
Some people aren’t even born today, and now isn’t a long time ago is it?
True.
And in the film his name was Benni, but his real name is on the tom of my tongue.
Tom?
Could be. But there was a subtle clue you missed at the beginning.
I did?
You did.
I’ll catch up, what was the name of the film?
I can’t remember that either, R something.
What did he say?
Time is a funny thing. Time is a very peculiar item. You see when you're young, you're a kid, you got time, you got nothing but time. Throw away a couple of years, a couple of years there... it doesn't matter. You know. The older you get you say, "Jesus, how much I got? I got thirty-five summers left." Think about it. Thirty-five summers.
That really bothered me when I watched the film; I’ve forgotten everything else about it.
So, NUMBER SEVEN is Time?
No.
Summer?
Not exactly, I chose sunsets – stop the car, get out – it may be raining tomorrow.
In San Francisco, you're kidding!?
Ok, foggy then.

I'm very glad to be back in the land of Bits 'n Bobs and am looking forward to settling down for a good long read. Before I do, I would just like to thank whoever it is who has been feeding the fish while I've been away.
It's good to have you back Vicki, rest assured i gave them a bit.
You're back in fine form, Chris, with this one. Am totally confused. Will have to re-read a few times though I'm not sure I ever saw the movie that you refer to. Or maybe it is a song. Wait -- could it be -- no, I don't think so.
Can you hear the wheels turning in my brain?
Mx
PS Went to see 'Nowhere Boy' - about John Lennon's early years to 17. I really liked it. If you're a fan, you must see it!
Hmm, very good Mary.
Now, as to the "back in form" bit -Is that a compliment or not.
Is confusing Mary something to strive for.
Dizzy yes, but confused?
'Back in form' is a definite compliment!
Keeping our minds nimble, you are -- you drop a hint here, imply a name there -- teasing our brains into action.
Mx
PS -- thanks for the link to the song. It's beautiful. And for the sketch of a car crossing the Golden Gate bridge.
Krissie's sketch!
